Kame-ishi (tortoise stone) <-(266K)
|
When and for what purpose this stone was built are unknown. In Asuka, there are many mysterious stone structures such as Saru-ishi, Sakafune-ishi and Oni-no-manaita. Since the stone looks like a crouching tortoise (kame), it is called Kame-ishi (ishi stands for stone).
