Kosho-ji Branch Temple

Edo Period, Warring Period

The Kosho-ji Branch Temple, located almost in the center of the Jinaimachi district, was established by Saint Shoshu, who developed the district. The temple belongs to the Shin sect of Buddhism. Its front gate was originally part of the gate of the Momoyama Castle in Kyoto and was transported here between 1854-59. Along with Myokei-ji Temple across the street, the temple serves as core facilities for the district as a historic site.
