Statue Carved by Sculptor Kaikei

The standing image of Amitabha Tathagata is assumed to have been carved by Kaikei, a famous sculptor, between 1201 and 1204 during the Kamakura Period. The statue is among the Buddhist images created by Kaikei in his prime as a sculptor.
In this masterpiece, the characteristics peculiar to Kaikei's sculptures are fully demonstrated.
