Karomon-- Ruins of Tatsuno Castle

Important Cultural Property Designated by the Tatsuno Municipal Government
Edo Period

A map of the castle town in 1752 indicates that the new residence of the lord of the Tatsuno clan was located at the place of Karomon (the principal retainer's gate). When clans were abolished and prefectures established in 1871, it became the prefectural office building. Later it became the Tatsuno Junior High School (1878-1885). In 1957, it was unfortunately burnt out and the gate is all that remains now.
