Sasayama-cho
Castle Town

Edo Period
Miniature Kyoto, Samurai Houses

The remains of Sasayama Castle enclosed by moss-covered stone walls and a moat full of water, and samurai houses and tsumairi style merchant houses in Kawaramachi, which surround the castle site. The town of Sasayama has a romance of history.
Buildings including the Sasayama Historical Museum which used to be the oldest wooden courthouse in Japan, the Tamba Toji Sake Brewer Memorial Museum, the Taisho Romance Hall which was restored from the previous municipal office, and the Tamba Pastoral Symphony Hall coexist in harmony with the old houses to create an impressive atmosphere.
