Famous Foods in Tamba Sasayama

Modern Times
Food

A climate unique to Tamba, fertile soil and the wisdom of ancestors nurtured high-quality foods such as black soybeans, yama-no-imo (yams), and dainagon (large-grained) azuki beans, and moreover gave birth to Tamba chestnuts, matsutake mushrooms, Sasayama beef and boar meat for Botan-nabe casserole.
At the "Tamba Sasayama food festival" which is held in October every year, all kinds of Sasayama food appear, together with young black soybeans (edamame) which made their debut as one of the Sasayama autumn foods in recent times.
