Noh Play Stage at Kasuga Shrine

Cultural Property Designated by the Hyogo Prefectural Government
Edo Period
Noh Play

In Kasuga Shrine there is a Noh play stage which was donated by the lord of the Sasayama clan, Aoyama Tadanaga, in 1861.
This is one of the most well-designed Noh play stages in Japan. The stage has seven big Tamba ware jars underneath and an echo effect from the rock mountain in front of it. Noh and Kyogen (farce) played on this stage attract a lot of Noh fans from all over Japan.
