Minyo (Folk Song)

"Dekansho" song is a kind of folk song which was very popular at the end of the Meiji Period(1868-1912), especially among students . It is said that this song is derived from a Bon festival dance song which has been sung by people here in Sasayama since the Edo Period.
"Dekansho" festival, which is the biggest folk song (minyo) festival in Hyogo Prefecture is held on the17th and the 18th of August every year. A great number of people come and have fun singing and dancing.
