Nyoidani Dotaku (bronze bell)

Minoh municipal Cultural Assets (cellars)
Yayoi Period

On January 1, 1966, a local resident, Mr. Toshio Honjo, was walking his dog and discovered this native bronze bell (dotaku) in the housing development construction site on Nyoidani hill. The bell is of the Kinki style, with a height of over 84 cm, and is assumed to have been buried during the first century BC (Yayoi Period). The cellar which had housed it was transported together with the dotaku to the Mino city museum. This is one of the six extant bells of its kind in Japan.
