Osaka Prefectural Historic Relics
Heian Period
Kawachi Genji Family

Minamotono Yoritomo, who established the Kamakura shogunate government, was a descendant in the direct line of the Kawachi Genji family, and Tsuhoji, Tsuboi is the birthplace of the Kawachi Genji family. There are many historic remains related to the Genji family, including Tsuboi-Hachimangu Shrine.
The origin of this shrine is attributed to Minamotono Yoriyoshi, a son of Yorinobu, who enshrined the god Iwashimizu in the east yard of his residence in 1064.The shrine stores the armor called "Kurokawaodoshi Domaru" (designated important cultural asset) and the sword "Tenkomaru no tachi" which were favorite possessions of Hachimantaro Yoshiie, a son of Yoriyoshi.
A camphor tree in the premises which is supposed to be 800 years old is designated as a natural monument by Osaka Prefecture.
