Sake brewery ("Chikatsu Asuka", special-grade sake) | In 613, in the era of Emperor Suiko, an ancient highway called Tajihimichi was improved and maintained as Japan's first national highway. It was the main artery for traffic between the present Sakai and Asuka Toyouragu Shrine in Nara. In the Nihon-Shoki, or the Chronicles of Japan, it says "A highway was laid down from Naniwa to Kyo, the capital." This highway has been called "Takenouchi-kaido" since the Edo Period (1600-1868).
